Further winter highlights

Jokkmokk winter market
Info: Large winter market in operation since 1605 with dog sleds races, reindeer races, film screenings, exhibitions, folklore, concerts;
Date: Annually, first weekend in February (Thursday - Sunday);
Place: Jokkmokk (170km; 2.5h from the POLARCTIS Lodge).

Jukkasjärvi ice hotel
Info: Famous ice hotel constructed from 30,000t snow and 4,000t ice with ice bar, sleep in an ice bed on reindeer pelt;
Date: December to the end of April;
Place: Jukkasjärvi, Kiruna (280km; 3.5h from the POLARCTIS Lodge).

Arktikum Rovaniemi
Info: Museum of life about the lifestyle, history and the culture of the inhabitants of the northern hemisphere;

Place: Rovaniemi (180km; 2.5h from the POLARCTIS Lodge).

Gällivare ore mines
Info: See the ore mines located 800m to 1,000m inside the mountain and visit the mining museum;
Date: Daily, duration of the mine tour 3.5h;
Place: Malmberget (160km; 2.0h from the POLARCTIS Lodge).

Shopping tour
Info: Extensive shopping tour in the pedestrian zones or large centres. Countless bars / international restaurants;
Date: Daily up to approx. 7.00pm, Saturday and Sunday 5.00pm;
Place: Luleå (100km; 1.25h from the POLARCTIS Lodge).

Alpine skiing / snowboarding
Info: Fabulous ski region with far-reaching views over the Swedish lakes and forests with 6 lifts, 9 descents, fun park;
Date: December to approx. end of April;
Place: Gällivare (160km; 2.0h from the POLARCTIS Lodge), with illuminated pistes daily.
An additional small ski lift is located just 15 minutes from us close to Överkalix.

Ski Nordisch
Info: Fabulous cross-country complex with 8 to 30km routes;
Date: December to approx. end of April, illuminated daily from 7.00am to 9.00pm;
Place: Överkalix (15 minutes from the POLARCTIS Lodge).

Bathing fun
Info: Fun and relaxation for the whole family. 25m pool, children’s pool, open air pool, slides, bubble jets, sauna, food;
